Chronic back pain can have a substantial negative impact on quality of life and GPs must be prepared to effectively manage these patients through a holistic multidisciplinary approach. The aim of the following educational activity is to provide modern evidence-based guidance to manage patients with chronic back pain from diagnosis through to treatment. Additionally, GPs will be prepared to assess patients with a range of lumbar spinal conditions and identify key signs that should prompt referral to a specialist. Lastly, this activity will emphasise the importance of a multidisciplinary approach to the management of lower back pain. \n\nThis activity is approved by the RACGP for the following CPD hours\nEA: 1.5\n\n# Learning Outcomes\nAt the end of this CPD activity, GP participants will be able to:  \n1. Apply an evidence-based approach to the diagnosis and treatment of patients presenting with chronic back pain. \n2. Assess patients with degenerative spinal conditions and determine key red flags that warrant referral to a neurosurgeon. \n3. Incorporate a multidisciplinary approach to the development of management plans for patients with chronic back pain. \n\n# Provider Details\nThe Provider of this activity is Healthscope.
