Published:

About

Osteoporotic fractures can lead to loss of independence, depression and increased mortality risk. Osteoporosis remains underdiagnosed and undertreated. This activity provides a quick overview on the diagnostic criteria for osteoporosis and the criteria for assessing fracture risk and selecting the appropriate long-term treatment pathways to optimise patient care.

This activity comprises a short educational video, followed by a reflective activity. Participants must complete both components to qualify for 30 minutes of Reviewing Performance (RP) Hours.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Outline the current diagnostic criteria and treatment pathways for osteoporosis.
  2. Critically reflect on recent interactions with patients to optimise fracture risk assessment and treatment selection.
  3. Apply guideline-aligned approaches to diagnosing osteoporosis and selecting appropriate treatment pathways.
