About

This update has been developed with a GP focus in order to expand the understanding of diagnostic and management strategies for patients presenting with Atrial Fibrillation. Dr William Wilson, with Dr Matthew Brooks, will review and examine evidence, patient case studies and the available diagnostic and the treatment options available to General Practitioners.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Describe the diagnostic pathway for atrial fibrillation in general practice.
  2. Outline the benefit and risk profiles of key anticoagulation agents.
  3. Recognise reversible causes of AF.
  4. Describe the role of medical and procedural therapies in AF, including rate-control, rhythm control and percutaneous LAA closure.
