Matters of the Gut IBS vs IBD

This update has been developed with a GP focus in order to expand knowledge on diagnosis, appropriate referral, treatment and continuation of care for patients presenting with symptoms for both IBD & IBS. Health Professionals are provided with extensive information on the factors that contribute to both IBD & IBS, how to differentiate, investigate and treat accordingly. The aim of this video is to give General Practitioners the confidence to manage these patients alongside specialist intervention and care.

Learning Outcomes

1. Differentiate between IBD vs IBS.
2. Execute correct investigative pathways when IBS or IBD is suspected.
3. Identifying patients in need of early help or aggressive therapy.
4. Outline the referral pathways available to patients suffering from and eating disorder.
5. Identify and minimise side-effects and long-term adverse effects when treating patients with IBD or IBS.
