About

This video aims develop the knowledge and depth of understanding amongst GPs of key learnings around the management of bariatric patients including; management and referral pathways for obese patients, the role of diet and surgery. The implication for the body and nutritional requirements for bariatric patients and finally the surgical choices of band, sleeve, and bypass and the effect of each for the patient.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Assess and identify patients requiring active obesity assessment and management.
  2. Describe the Dieticians role in the care of a Bariatric patient, and nutritional signs and symptoms to watch for in the primary practice.
  3. Describe Bariatric surgery options, suitability for patients and risks involved.
