Pathology-led Education – New Prediabetes and Diabetes Mellitus Audit

The new and improved National Prediabetes and Diabetes Mellitus Audit is unique in the education realm as it not only focuses on identifying prediabetes but also provides an alert system for clinicians. The audit will assist clinicians in managing their patients living with diabetes aligned with the Diabetes Annual Cycle of Care. Eligible participants can earn up to 35 CPD hours. Gestational diabetes is not included.

Learning Outcomes
At the completion of this CPD activity, participants will be able to:

1. Identify patients with pathology results consistent with prediabetes and increased risk of progression to type 2 diabetes
2. Implement structured recall and monitoring processes to support timely follow up and ongoing management of patients with prediabetes and diabetes
3. Apply individualised glycaemic targets to support the ongoing management of patients with type 1 and type 2 diabetes
4. Use audit insights and benchmarking data to strengthen clinical decision making and support quality improvement in practice.
