This training video, developed by Interplast and consultant anaesthetists at the Northern Hospital (Melbourne, Australia) is designed for anaesthetists and trainees to apply the Vortex approach to safe airway managmenet.

The vortex approach is a framework, or an algorithm, that practitioners can use to safely manage a patient's airway and return them to oxygenation, before the occurance of an airway crisis.

In this training video, particicpants will be able to:

  1. Define safe airway management and oxygenation
  2. List the required equipment & staff for safe airway management
  3. Describe the Vortex model, including: mask ventilation, laryngeal mask insertion, endotracheal intubation and front of neck rescue
  4. Explain the importance of documentation and communication of difficult airway
