What's new in: Neuro Spine

According to the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare, spinal injuries and disorders are a major health concern in Australia, with back pain and related problems alone accounting for just over 4% of the country's total disease burden in 2022 [1]. This translates to a significant number of Australians experiencing back pain or other spinal issues, making it crucial for General Practitioners (GPs) to be well-equipped to manage these conditions effectively.

1. List the signs & symptoms “red flags” that warrant medical and surgical treatment in patients who present with spine issues.
2. Outline the indications for spinal fusion, the type of spinal fusion performed and the role of robotics to improve patient outcomes.
3. Describe the multidisciplinary team management strategy for patients post-operative.
