Emerging technologies in medicine are rapidly transforming patient care, diagnostics, and hospital efficiency through advanced digital and biological innovations. Robot-assisted surgery (RAS) in Australia has entered a highly advanced, mainstream era.
Navigating the shift toward robot-assisted surgery (RAS) requires the GP to balance advanced surgical innovation with community-based continuity of care. Managing a patient undergoing RAS involves structured pre-operative counselling, clear suitability criteria, and intensive shared post-operative management.
Emerging technologies and clinical advances in urology, endoscopic spine surgery and joint replacement will be discussed. GPs will be able to confidently discuss treatment options, benefits, limitations and manage patient expectations. GPs will also take a closer look at the use of AI in general practice including potential risks and benefits they may pose.
