To enhance GPs’ knowledge and confidence in the contemporary assessment, referral and multidisciplinary management of common women’s health conditions, with a focus on evidence-based breast care, gynaecology, pelvic floor health and optimising patient outcomes through collaborative specialist care.

Learning Outcomes

At the end of this CPD activity, GP participants will be able to:

1. Assess breast cancer risk factors and implement appropriate screening, diagnostic and referral pathways for patients presenting in primary care.
2. Discuss strategies to prepare and support women before and after surgery, including shared decision-making principles and patient centred care.
3. Identify contemporary management options for uterine fibroids and endometriosis and sub-fertility, and determine when specialist referral or multidisciplinary care is indicated.
4. Identify the options available for genetic testing in perinatal care and evaluate the suitability for patients and their families.
5. Describe the role of multidisciplinary assessment in the diagnosis and management of pelvic floor conditions.
